Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences выходит другая статья за авторством Николаса Кристакиса (Nicholas A. Christakis) из http://nicholaschristakis.net/publication/friendship-and-natural-selection/и Джеймса Фаулера (James H. Fowler) из Калифорнийского университета в Сан-Диего, в которой опять-таки говорится о генетическом сходстве, но уже между друзьями.

Notes
See the entries for sagacious, sagacity, penetration. Literary references under sagacious were, in relation in animal and scent, by Mylton and Dryden; references for the same, for human thought, were by Locke.
An impressionistic measure of the prevalence of this term can be apprehended through a search for the exact phrase political sagacity in all books published between 1800 and 1899 currently listed on books.google.com. The return of 1006 hits (as compared with 651 with animal sagacity) is telling by itself.

The purpose of this special issue of the Journal of Personality Disorders is to promote the integration of personality structure and dynamics towards more evidence-based and clinically useful conceptualizations of personality pathology. In this article, we describe a contemporary model of personality structure that is useful for distinguishing patients from one another and the connections between this structure and within-person dynamics that occur across different levels of an individual personality, across situations, and within situations. In so doing, we connect the personality trait tradition that has tended to emphasize stable individual differences with traditions that have tended to focus on the more dynamic aspects of interpersonal behavior and emotional experience. We then introduce the empirical articles in this special issue within this integrative context, in order to demonstrate the value in connecting personality structure to dynamics for research and practice.

Experience Sampling Method: Measuring the Quality of Everyday Life is the first book to bring together the theoretical foundations and practical applications of this indispensable methodology. Authors Joel M. Hektner, Jennifer A. Schmidt, and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi provide fascinating information for anyone interested in how people go about their daily lives. Key Features:áá Provides a step-by-step guide: In nontechnical prose, the book details the logistics of carrying out an Experience Sampling Method (ESM) study and guides the reader through every step of the process, from conceiving the research question to analyzing the data. In addition, a through treatment of the measurement of CsikszentmihalyiÆs flow describes all of the different ways in which flow can be measured. Includes real-life examples: This book gives readers useful tips to consider before implementing a study, based on real-life examples. It illustrates how the ESM has been used to address a diverse array of topics in social science research including the phenomenology of everyday life, gender differences, family relations, work experiences, cross-cultural differences and similarities, school experiences, and mental health. Offers a complete overview of the foundations for ESM: This is the first source to compile findings from a large and increasingly diverse research literature documenting the use of the ESM. A comprehensive overview is given of issues affecting reliability and validity of the method and empirical evidence of its psychometric properties. Intended Audience:áá This is a must-have resource for social and behavioral scientists who are studying the human experience in everyday life and need guidelines for how to validate and present their data. It can also be used in various advanced undergraduate and graduate research methods courses in the departments of Education, Educational Psychology, Psychology, Nursing, and Health.

Handbook of Research Methods for Studying Daily Life Reprint Edition
by Matthias R. Mehl PhD (Editor), Tamlin S. Conner PhD (Editor), Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi PhD (Foreword)

Bringing together leading authorities, this unique handbook reviews the breadth of current approaches for studying how people think, feel, and behave in everyday environments, rather than in the laboratory. The volume thoroughly describes experience sampling methods, diary methods, physiological measures, and other self-report and non-self-report tools that allow for repeated, real-time measurement in natural settings. Practical guidance is provided to help the reader design a high-quality study, select and implement appropriate methods, and analyze the resulting data using cutting-edge statistical techniques. Applications across a wide range of psychological subfields and research areas are discussed in detail.
